Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo Metal Eyeshadows

Walmart Display

I procrastinated about purchasing these new additions to my collection.
That is because they are permanent.
I did not find them at Walgreens as some have. However I did find them at my local Walmart.
They retail for $5.94. I was thrilled to see they had all of the colors in stock so that I could purchase them and feature them here on the blog.

My most desired color 65 GOLD RUSH did not let me down.

I was also eager to pick up 75 ELECTRIC BLUE.

The other colors in the collection are

60 SILVER STRIKE

70 BARELY BRANDED

and

55 INKED IN PINK

All of the colors are shimmery metallic texture. However the GOLD RUSH has chunkier flecks than the other colors. I do not mind this at all because of the color! It seems one has to build the color to make it opaque. That is fine with me. I do not mind a little work for fantastic results.

These wore on me for 10 hours.
I did not test beyond that. I do not intentionally sleep in makeup.
As my eyelids are super oily, I always use an eyeshadow primer before laying down a secondary base.
I use this product as a secondary base to enhance colored eyeshadows. I set them with loose or pressed eyeshadow pigments.

NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base

NARS claims "A lightweight primer that creates a seamless canvas that keeps cream and powder eye color looking brilliant, fresh, and just-applied all day.

This smudge-proof eye shadow base uses a unique polymer and mineral powder blend to get a firm grip on color for long-lasting, gorgeous wear. Fortified with a special deep-sea extract and an antioxidant rice extract, it dries on contact and keeps the delicate eye lid smooth and ready for eye shadow application.

This fragrance-free product is ophthalmologist and dermatologist tested."

I agree with their claims!

This is my new holy grail eyeshadow base.
My eyelids are super oily!
This is the only product that I can use that actually keeps the oil at bay, lets eyeshadow adhere and makes colors pop. I have gotten 10 hours of wear without creasing using this product! It is a bit pricey at $24 for just .26oz. I bought mine from the NARS website, however, it is available on Sephora's website as well as drugstore.com. Although the product is white coming out of the tube, it goes on clear. Very little product is needed to achieve favorable results.

It has a doe foot applicator. The packaging is not ideal. Urban Decay listened to it's consumers by making their primer available in a tube. Aside from the high price, I would say this is the only drawback to this product. A little goes a long way and I have not finished the product.

I found it to be compatible with both drugstore and high end eyeshadows. I have used it as a primary base as well as alone just to keep the oil from greasing up my lids while wearing just eyeliner. Yes, I would definitely purchase this product again and highly recommend it to others.

Have you ever tried this product?

Maybelline 24hr Tattoo Eyeshadows - With Swatches

A fellow makeup enthusiast called me while I was getting dressed for work one day last week.

I assured her that I was going to search for these products on my way to work.

I was surprised to see that there was a display in my local CVS.

I purchased a few of them. The display had been hit hard by previous shoppers.

I visited a couple more CVS stores and found two more colors. I still am on the hunt for
Pomegranate, Taupe and Fierce and Tangy.

I plan to use these as secondary eyeshadow bases.

Photos are
1st taken indoors with indirect natural sunlight
& 2nd with flash.

Have you seen these in your local area?

Have you purchased any?

Blending Eyeshadow Over Bases

Have you ever had trouble blending eyeshadows over a base?

Try this

1. Apply primer to lid, Spread out. Give it a minute to set.
2. Using a blending brush, sweep translucent powder onto primer.
3. Apply shadows.
4. Blend colors.

The primer blocks the oil from seeping through to crease your shadow.
The invisible powder prevents the primer from gripping the shadow too much.
This hastens the blending process.

The Travel size Make Up For Ever HD Powder is the perfect size for this.
Find the mini in the best of Sephora MUFE set $49.
